When disaster strikes what makes the difference between those who die and those who survive? SOLE SURVIVOR examines some of the most extreme and dramatic cases of survival to understand just what it takes to get out alive. Each of these heart-pounding stories has a unique central character – unique because they are the only one to have lived. What did this people do that was different than the people around them? How is it they lived while so many others died?

SOLE SURVIVOR is the fascinating series that takes us deep into the heart of disasters, from a horrific plane crash, to a devastating avalanche, putting an expert eye on the split second decisions that these people made that meant the difference between life and death.

Episode one features two stories of extraordinary survival. Tom Wilson’s plane crashed into a mountaintop on a remote island off the coast of Vancouver – seven other people, including his colleagues and a pilot died either in the crash or in the inferno from which Tom’s quick thinking allowed him to escape. Anna Allen was standing in a ski lodge, just feet away from her boyfriend when he, and seven others were suddenly engulfed under an avalanche. Anna survived for five days in a cramped space using her smarts to keep warm and stay alive.
